After a lot of hard work recently, I finally made my first 9cm EME QSO's on 15th July 2012. This was the arranged 9cm activity weekend and I had hoped to be ready for Saturday, but had to spend most of the day working on the system.

My first QSO was with OK1KIR, then came OH2DG. G3LTF was not easy, and after ES5PC I realised that something was not quite right. At first I though that my feed was not in the correct focal position, so spent some time modifying the feed mount to enable the feed to be moved closer to the dish. This turned out to be a mistake, and echoes and reports from other stations were worse. Thanks to Peter G3LTF, I discovered that the problem was the system was cross polarised - the TX & RX were connected to the wrong ports.

After changing the feed port connections, and moving the feed back to the original position signals were much stronger. K5GW who was inaudible previously was now a huge 599 signal!

There are still many improvements to be made on the system, so hopefully I can get them completed by the ARRL Contest in October.

For now the system here is 5.4m hb dish (f/d 0.5), scaled N2UO feed, G4DDK LNA (NF 0.?? dB), 100W at FP from 2 x DK6LJL SSPA's

I was really happy with the operation of the SSPA's which are mounted at the feedpoint. With a 30V supply the pair draw 8A to produce 100 watts.
